Canonical Ltd partners with LynuxTraining Sàrl to develop Ubuntu Certified professional training courses

Canonical Ltd, the commercial sponsor of Ubuntu, today announced it has partnered with LynuxTraining Sàrl to develop the first dedicated Ubuntu training courses for the 'Ubuntu Certified Professional' status. UCP is a training certification based on the LPI level 1 certification.

From Q1 2007 delegates will be able to prepare for, and achieve, the qualification by attending two five day courses available via a global network of partners. They are the first in a series of classroom-based and e-learning courses designed to enable System Administrators to pass the required LPI 101, LPI 102 and the Ubuntu (LPI 199) exams.

We are delighted to be working with LynuxTraining to deliver Ubuntu Certified Professional status to Systems Administrators within the enterprise environment.”

In October 2006 Canonical undertook a worldwide review of possible training partners for the project. The aim was to develop courses which would prepare students for LPIC-1 Administrator Professional accreditation and Certified Professional status for Ubuntu. The decision was made to move forward with LynuxTraining due to their strong background in Linux training, the quality of the work they had previously undertaken for LPI certifications and their obvious commitment and excitement about the project.

LynuxTraining will deliver a comprehensive set of materials designed to introduce the user to Ubuntu and the Ubuntu project, as well as test the candidate's ability to perform easy maintenance tasks, install and configure a workstation and work with the Linux command line.
