The newest member of Ubuntu Carrier Advisory Group is MTN Group, Africa’s largest multinational mobile telecoms provider operating in 21 countries across the region. MTN has a significant number of business customers who can benefit from Ubuntu’s convergence and security capabilities. Pieter Verkade, Chief Commercial Officer at MTN Group says: “Today’s phones are so much more than just telephones and Ubuntu will be able to meet needs of operators and handset manufacturers looking to take advantage of the latest technology and cutting costs.”
Invitations are extended to any national or multinational carrier who wishes to join the CAG. The group will close to new members at the end of July. Only CAG members will have access to early information about Ubuntu and device manufacturer plans to support the OS, as well as the opportunity to be a launch partner for Ubuntu on smartphones. Carriers interested in further information about CAG membership may contact Canonical directly at https://pages.canonical.com/carrier-advisory-group-contact-us.html.
